Howie Young
Executive Producer
Howie Young is an Executive Producer with a career spanning feature film, television, and commercial production. His unique combination of frontline physical production experience, finance and accounting expertise, and the ability to navigate international logistical and tax credit challenges allows him to view every project through multiple lenses, with equal attention to creative vision, thoughtful execution, and financial discipline.
Howie began his career in Miami as a location scout and production assistant before moving into production accounting. His business degree from the University of Florida and graduate degree in accountancy from Arizona State University accelerated his path toward producing as he worked on films including G.I. Jane, Speed II, Analyze This, The Scorpion King, Mission: Impossible III, The Game Plan, and Dolphin Tale.
He joined Spyglass Entertainment as Director of Production and Finance, serving as part of the management team overseeing productions including Four Christmases, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and Memoirs of a Geisha, before returning to freelance production management. His production credits include Hit & Run, Alpha Dog, Love Ranch, Aftershock in Chile, John Woo’s Red Cliff in China, and Jack Ryan in Croatia. Completion bond companies recruited Howie to oversee international productions, where he managed production service companies, multicurrency budgets, government and union regulations, complex financing structures, and multilayered tax incentives. He has successfully secured the California Film Credit on each of the four occasions he has applied, generating tens of millions of dollars for those productions.
Howie transitioned into producing with Dax Shepard’s Hit & Run, starring Shepard, Bradley Cooper, and Kristen Bell. It was both his first film as a producer and the smallest budget he had managed, and it had a successful national theatrical release in 2,700 theaters. He has since produced alongside first-time feature directors including John Logan (They/Them) and Patrick Wilson (Insidious 5), supporting ambitious creative visions with a practical approach grounded in logic and imagination.
Having worked across frontline production and in a studio corporate environment, including as Head of Production for an independent production company, Howie brings a rare combination of creative, operational, and financial expertise to take a project from concept through completion. He is known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to foster a positive, supportive, and inspiring production environment. He is a member of the DGA and PGA.
